Privacy Policy

This is not legal advice. It’s a plain description of what we collect and why, written by the person who runs this site.

What we collect

• Listing details. Sport, platform, format, scoring, league size, buy-in, draft date, chat app, region, and your details text. These are shown publicly on the board. We do not collect league or invite links.
• Commissioner email. Used to send your manage link, receipts, and reminders. We never show it publicly.
• Hashed IP address. Used to rate limit join requests and to stop abuse of the listing and boost forms. We store a hash, not the raw IP.
• Join requests. When you ask to join a league we store your name, email, optional platform handle, and message, and email them to that listing’s commissioner with reply-to set to you.
• Payment info. Stripe handles all card data. We never see or store your card number.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your data.
• We don’t run ads that track you across other sites.
• We never show or share a commissioner’s email. If you send a join request, your email goes only to that listing’s commissioner so they can reply; nobody else sees it.

Emails we send

Transactional only:

• Your listing is live.
• Boost receipt.
• Still-open reminders (day 23 and day 28).
• Listing expired.
• Manage link, when you request one.
• Join requests: the commissioner receives your note; you receive a copy confirming it was sent.
• If you joined the pre-launch waitlist: one email when the board opens.

No newsletters, no marketing lists, unless you separately ask us for one.

Cookies and tracking

We use only what’s needed to run the site (session and rate-limiting). We don’t run third-party ad trackers.

Services we use

• Stripe processes payments and holds your billing details under its own privacy policy.
• Neon hosts the database that holds listings.
• Resend delivers the transactional emails.
• Vercel serves the site, keeps short-lived request logs, and counts page views with cookieless analytics.

None of them get your email for marketing. We do not sell or rent data to anyone.

Data retention

• A live listing keeps the commissioner’s email while it is on the board.
• 90 days after a listing is filled, hidden, or removed, we strip the commissioner’s email, the details text, and the IP hash. The listing’s public settings and its boost total stay as a record.
• Join requests (name, email, message) are deleted 90 days after they were sent.
• Waitlist emails are deleted once the launch email goes out, and in any case within 12 months.
• Unpaid listing drafts are deleted after 24 hours. Rate-limit counters are deleted after 2 days.
• Payment records (amount, date, Stripe ids) are kept as long as Canadian tax law requires, without the payer’s email after the 90-day window.

You can ask us to delete your data sooner by emailing support@leagueopenings.com, subject to what we need to keep for legal or accounting reasons.

Your rights

Under Canada’s PIPEDA (and similar laws where you live) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@leagueopenings.com and we will answer within 30 days. We can remove a listing from the board, but we cannot make people who already saw it forget it, and we keep payment records as long as tax law requires.

League Openings is operated by a sole proprietor based in Ontario, Canada. Prices are listed in USD.
